Hobbit Hole Playhouse

This project was close to my heart as it was made for my granddaughter in readiness for her 1st birthday. The project was started by creating a form out of wood so I could get the bent ribs made consistently. I initially tried steam bending but this was too problematic for large pieces so I turned to bent wood lamination instead and ripped pine down and re glued before clamping to the form, each rib being left overnight to set up. Then it was a case of getting front and rear frames made up with loglap timber, fixing these to the base and building an internal frame. This frame got a covering of feather edge boards to seal them in.  The door and window were cut with a router and a homemade circle cutting jig. This one turned out exactly as I had imagined and hopefully will give years of pleasure to my Granddaughter & family
