The panel is packed with details to create an immersive industrial control-panel look, including a screen with a drop-down style user interface, keypad, control buttons, speaker section and control dial. The combination of different levels, materials and finishes gives the panel plenty to discover and helps it look like a genuine piece of futuristic equipment rather than a simple decorative surround.
One of the standout features is the weathered and worn finish. The paintwork has been deliberately aged to give the appearance of years of use, with the metallic surface underneath showing through areas of chipped paint. Additional weathering techniques are then used to create a convincing "used future" appearance, as though the panel has spent years aboard a working spaceship.
The panel is constructed from multiple layers of laser-cut MDF, carefully assembled and painted in a range of industrial-inspired colours before the acrylic details are added.
The light-switch opening can be adjusted to suit any UK light switch up to 95 × 95 mm, making it suitable for a wide variety of standard UK switches.
